I *hate* when the boss asks me to add people to our mailing list who didn't opt in. I just sent out a campaign and, predictably, a ton of people flagged it as spam or unsubscribed. Only three sales out of over 10,000 sends. But in his mind, that's ok. Ugh.

    They should flag as spam because it is. Look up the CAN-SPAM act. Educate your boss on the laws. 👌

    When i was asked to do that, I refused. Why did you do it?

    @leviwhalen I did. He didn't care.

    @uselesshero I refused several times. This time I did it to give him data to prove the point I was making in hopes he will choose more wisely in the future. Also, I resigned my job over it (and several other things). I hope he learns his lesson.

    The major email providers will teach the lesson.

    @lquessenberry the frustrating this is that I told him that many times. He said, "Then, we'll just choose one that won't punish us." #headdesk

    @lquessenberry the warning from the marketing platform about being blacklisted just hit my inbox. I forwarded it right to the boss. Hope he actually reads it this time vs when I sent him the blog post about the same warning.

    Use the one that doesn't... It's too bad that's in fantasy land where you boss controls the world and not here in the real world where there are thousands of email providers that listen to the spam reports from their users. What a maroon.

    A bunch of sales actually did come in throughout today as a result. But I still feel so dirty. I need a shower.
