The amount of elitism you see inside of the dev community is the reason why I consider changing careers.

No, It don't hurt my feelings. I just don't want to surround myself from sexually frustrated loosers that think that getting cool points on the internet over hating and shitting over other's likes and dislikes means something.

It sucks balls and I smell the areas to be of dried cum and Cheetos.

Fuck man, being born ugly, anti-charismatic and weird must suck big balls

I can't relate to being ugly, anti-charismatic or weird, so I'll sadly never know what that feels like 🤔

@Elyz od course not, it says on your bio that you are from Denmark, this means you are a gorgeous nordid babe. Or at least I am imagining you as a total nordic babe
  • 5
@AleCx04 i am, thank you for noticing 😌
  • 1
What do you have in mind for your alt career?
  • 0
@Elyz done deal, but only if you promise to think of me as a devilish looking Texan u____u and thus from now on if I see your username I will think "that is a total nordic babe"

real talk, I have met women from Denmark before, y'all are pretty, wonder what that country has that makes such pretty people. Men and women alike.

Plus, one or my fav bands is from there lol.

@AleCx04 it's the bread we have here 🤷🏻‍♀️
    What band?
  • 1
@Elyz Volbeat <3 even started trying to learn Danish because of them
  • 2
@AleCx04 A lot of places in the military are also extremely toxic. I was lucky to have a very positive and supportive environment, but I heard from friends that it can be quite hellish.

@NickyBones i am a veteran myself, i keep telling people that i am going back. Personally I loved it.
  • 3
@AleCx04 yikes, good luck 🤭 I can't even properly Danish and I was born here.
  • 1
Sounds to me y'all need a snack and a nap 😅
  • 2
@AleCx04 I can't see myself going back. Everything was inefficient and corrupt and stagnant. Maybe as a combatant the experience is different, but as a tech person, it's pure frustration.

IDK, I don't see the elitism here.. Only some dudes in their boxers in their rooms at ma's trying to be cool and imagine (and more importantly - prove to the others) they have found their place under the sun. And the actual professionals, who know what they're doing and know what they don't know and stay out of the conversations they know shit about the topic.

@Frederick Bad attitude can be found regardless of looks. But in this industry there is an alarmingly large number of people with high school trauma that seek revenge on anything with a pulse.
  • 4
@Frederick I agree but it's not entirely decoupled. Many people become assholes because they were bullied for being unattractive. And people that are bitter often neglect themselves as a "fuck you" to society.

I plan to quit in 2-3 years or when my current project ends. It will be 15-16 years I spent writing code for money.
It’s due to how to hiring and overall business looks like. It’s no longer for helping humans but rather to enslave them and give more power to corporations and gov.

I will probably keep coding for myself to fight with this trend.
  • 3
Then again, judging folks by how many fish boxes they stick their sausage into, and writing loser with oo, isn't any less of a pathetic garden gnome perspective. ^^

You're not you when you're hungry...
  • 2
@AleCx04 I get this same feeling and I don’t understand it. It’s frustrating but every profession will have this similar problem it’s stupid
  • 1
@Fast-Nop First, that was a typo. Second: this is based on my experience: every elitist asshole i have met...I HAVE MET not you or someone else, I ain't talking about YOUR perspective... MINE has been: fat, ugly, 0 charisma.

So, if the generalization how holds from MY perspective then I am going to continue using it 🤷
  • 1
@Frederick I believe that @NickyBones said it best for me when she explained the concept of people that were unattractive in school, being bullied or ignored, growing up to get some hint of power (in a dev community for example) and acting like a complete asshole to others.

You both are right, It is shallow to judge them based on the looks thing...BUT it is in MY experience that every time I deal with an elitist asshole/keyboard warrior it fulfills EVERY single characteristic of the things I mentioned or several of them.

So no homie, if anyone is not really an attractive person and in tech I am not going to treat them like shit just because how they look...BUT in the event of them acting like an asshole I am in my fucking right to say "oh hey, what do you know, another asshole uggo! yay statistics!"

@AleCx04 Well, the obesity rate in your country is above 40%, and when also including "just" overweight, it's above 70% - with no sign of a trend reversal.

This means that most people in your country are fat and therefore also ugly. Of course, this includes most devs as a matter of statistics, and most elitist assholes, and most humble people.

It's not devs with pizza, it's that the whole American diet is complete trash. In fact, even the armed forces sounded the alarm of a national security issue already years ago because young Americans are too fat to fight. Yes, it's that serious.
  • 1
@Fast-Nop I wouldn't say that fat necessarily equals ugly, if you noticed I said fat and ugly, not fat as a whole qualifier for being ugly. I've had friends (both male and female) that have really nice features whose only issue was being far on the dark side of chubby , but once they started to hit the gym and get on a good diet they started to look better. The American diet system really IS shit, and the obesity rates will always seem alarming due to the overall size of the nation.

I am starting to see a trend in being all about going to the gym and eating healthy in here, so here is too hope, not because I have something against fat people or anything, but because i do not want my gordo friends dying young over something they could have prevented.

@AleCx04 Still, I don't buy the dry dick argument. Especially not given that those young men who score most pussy are usually quite some assholes because nice guys and not assholes always finish last.

What I dislike about some devs, and what's remotely in line with your observation, is a very narrow scope of interest. Reading books? Yeah, even more dev stuff.

That doesn't lead to a rounded personality. These folks are so ignorant about anything else that they don't even realise just how narrow their scope is.

And then life hits in, sooner or later, and they are not equipped to deal with it in any meaningful way. Falling ill. Beloved ones dying. Ultimately, facing one's own mortality.
  • 1
@Fast-Nop I hear a lot of guys repeat this "nice guys finish last" argument, and that might be true if they are chasing snobbish cheerleaders. These "nice guys" are also the same guys that only try to date girls in their early twenties with a silicon butt, and tell women over 28 that they are "expired", "damaged goods" and other stupid shit.
  • 0
@NickyBones The latter ones aren't the "nice guys". It's those who have more female demand than they could handle, like rich and/or powerful guys.

Since the male and female reproductive range of age is different, so is the sexual value vs. age. Just biology.

What I questioned with the OP however was judging people's human value by their sexual value, and that includes women as well.
  • 2
    @Fast-Nop
I don't think people should be judged by the number of times they had sex (or with whom). I didn't take OP's description so literally. I actually read it more like people that feel they are entitled to sex and that's definitely a type....
My doctor says that medicine has gone so far in this field you can even impregnate a puff pastry. Biology is changed by science. And anyway, the quality of the sperm goes down once you are over 35.
Most of my social circles are males (engineering, skating), so I hear that "expired" BS way too frequently, from guys who struggle at dating. Which is why they struggle at dating :)
  • 0
@NickyBones Now that's funny, to hear the expired stuff from guys who seem to have been expired for all their life. That's not the kind of guys who can afford such talk.
  • 3
@Fast-Nop Anyone can afford to be an asshole if they accept the consequences 😂
  • 1
I'll be waiting for the same rant after you switch careers. 👀👀
  • 0
To me, it looks like you are talking about yourself because i cannot relate to this :/
If you are sick of people finding mistakes in your PRs, i would suggest changing careers too.
  • 1
@NickyBones I usually try not to be too nice as I've learnt this would turn me into prey, but neither too much of an asshole as this would make me lonely.

A surprising consequence is that people whom I'm friendly with appreciate that more because they're aware that it's my choice, not my static personality. If left on my own, I'm rather indifferent.
  • 2
@3rdWorldPoison I am not 15, nor have I been in the field for 2 oe 4 years. I know what I am about dudester
  • 1
@starryfire damn, I really did struck a nerve with the uggos. You'll be aight fam, don't take it to heart.
  • 0
@Nanos i did not understand you bud
  • 0
@AleCx04 Not to bust your balls my guy but your world view does remind me of a 15 year old. Hope you know what you're about.
  • 1
@3rdWorldPoison shit only would if the shoe fit. Don't worry my dude, I'll be ok, thanks for caring tho. It is amazing to find such caring people on this platform, specifically considering I can't even begin to give 2 shits about you.

    Much obliged.
  • 1
@AleCx04 Aww. That's such a sweet thing to say. Good luck sweet-tooth. ❤️
  • 0
@Fast-Nop mmmh no, i think you are reading faaaaaaar the fuck too much between lines.

I am not judging or basing anyone's value based on sexual merit or whatever you think. Merely mentioning that all the fuckers I described have something in common: them being non attractive, fat, non charismatic idiots.

I don't really know how anyone would have so much issue with this unless the shoe fits really. Are you not attractive, a fucking elitist asshole, and in tech? yeah, this shit for you. You are one, but not the others? then just i dunno ignore it?
  • 0
    @3rdWorldPoison thanks baby gurl
  • 0
@Nanos its true, when u waa fat i had horrible haircuts
  • 2
if this rant was a repo I would have had to revert to the earliest version I could find and start over.
    so confused.
  • 0
@Nanos better haircut. When one is fat and has long hair it has an 80% of making you look disgusting (i thought i looked disgusting)

So i pulled a britney, cut all of it, then did the thing to lose weight. I went from 245 lbs(111kg) to 180lbs(81kg) which for my stature is about 2 or 3 kg more than I should weight.
