Anything WordPress

Sadly, I know too many people that "gotta have a Wordpress site for 'flexibility'."

Do they listen to reason (especially when I point out their site is entirely static and doesn't have an ounce of dynamic content, nor do they have the want/will to update the site themselves)? No, no they don't. =(

@emes001 The worst thing to ever happen to CMSs was WordPress' name recognition.

"I'm a web developer."

Translation: I know how to buy shared hosting from GoDaddy, install Wordpress, install you chosen free theme and install some required plugins."

Unfortunately even real developers have to sit through the torture that is Wordpress if the client wants it and is familiar with it.

People don't want to learn your bespoke CMS system. Even if it is programmatically better and faster and more secure.

It sucks a bit. But you have to understand the needs of the client.

@MadMikeyB If a developer is in a client facing position, they're also an educator that bridges the clients conceptions with reality. I've taken a lot of lessons from the Account Execs on handling clients and have had successes. Playing to the kind of ego that "knows web" and asks for WP by name can have a great effect for conversion.
