Although I'm a Windows/Ubuntu user, but i have to admit that the battery life and trackpad on apple laptops are the best.

aviaryan2688y@mohammed agreed. The sleep and wakeup time is outstanding too, almost instantaneous

Because it's their computer/OS of choice and they feel they don't need to justify that choice to anyone?

Although I am not a ubuntu fan and I get all the comments here, I'm with you on this one. I am a strong supporter of open source but in a way that I simply refuse to use closed source operating systems. Which is of course a personal opinion/thingy but hey, I just don't feel comfy using closed source stuff!

Nebyular4128yI would throw Linux on my Macbook... If it could handle heat better... Too many problems with the 2012 retina and Linux. 😑
Maybe an XPS next time? -
Macs are excellent over-the-top working machines. They're even UNIX-based. Good font-rendering, and pretty much every tool works out of the box. I see no reason to use Linux.
Now, on my servers, it's all CentOS. -
aviaryan2688yThanks everyone for your views.. I see, it's the comfort and the ease with which it helps to develop your software, is what makes osx great.
I have spent lots of time on Ubuntu and Windows so I can make them non - annoying in no time.. And they don't trouble me anymore. Obviously if I give some time to osx, I will adjust here too.
I already love some features in osx which I never had in Windows and Ubuntu.. And things will get better only.

Why do *popular* devs prefer OSX over Ubuntu, Mint or other linux distribution? Don't they like to support open source? I just picked a MBA and have spent time with it but I still prefer Ubuntu.
Note - By popular, here I mean those devs who are noteworthy on Twitter, Github etc. I won't speak names obviously.
