    But..but... Bill said that anyone can learn how to code! And I got good grades in my coding bootcamp where I copypasted 99percent of my code from internet, without even reading any of material, thus Im smart!

    @zemaitis Anyone can code. Not everyone can be a dev.

    @c3r38r170 Anyone can have sex but not anyone can become a pornstar.

    @zemaitis

    Rule 34 of the Internet: If it exists, there's porn of it.

    For real though. I had to work on an important software project that required a good understanding of digital electronics and I was so glad I studied computer science. I would have been screwed if I had went to those "coding" boot camps instead. Good thing they aren't even many of them where I'm from. My experience is that you don't have to be a mathematical genius, you just have to understand the basics and not be a code monkey that shits itself when asked to put a binary number is 2's compliment.

    I've met enough developers who could not add 10 and 10 and get 100

    I've met enough developers who couldn't understand anything outside their personal sphere of knowledge

    I've met enough developers who thought stuff a computer did was PFM and they just asked it what to do.

    Being ignorant doesn't make one not want to be a developer.

    Nowadays, there are so many 1 trick (and a few 0 trick) ponies around.
