I remember seeing a pretty big PaaS companies dev ops and deploy infrastructure.. it was incredible that anyone knew where anything was or how it got there - they seemed on top of it tho.

Such is the world of software. There is always another layer of abstraction that can be wrapped around the entity. Trick is to have the abstraction make things better without adding to the complexity

Problem is too much abstraction and you have to manage it at all levels and also code.

@rajeshd the supposed beauty of SaaS and PaaS is to have a third party manage some of the levels of abstraction. In practise, I haven't seen that happen. There are always some local ops guys
