Can someone please explain to me the purpose of developers wearing formal clothing ?? Some companies in my country also require ties and suits. Why ??

    Sometimes its just policy but some companies let developers actualy talk to the customer they are working for ;)

    We're told to dress decent enough, just in case we get pulled into a customer meeting. Or.. Have a shirt ready in the office

    Where I work it's casual unless some big client is in. They won't even see most of us but it's smart clothes all round.

    Ties are useful... they make adequate garrotes when clients get too demanding

    Not sure why it'd be required but I wear one always just because I love wearing suits!

    @linuxxx seems quite a few women love when men wear suits as well, at least from what I've gathered. :p

    Which country? I might understand if a client meeting. Otherwise, too old school. I had to do it decades ago. 😁
