Fucking Asus won't even sell me a battery for my laptop because it would require me to open the back plate of the device. I have to take it to a service centre and pay them to install it!

Asus didn't even sell replacement batteries for my enterprise grade laptop at all. The best thing is that the battery is removable... I had to buy one from sketchy chinese/polish shop that tried to scam me, but eventually they sent the battery.

I mean, this should be illegal but whatever.

@lamka02sk They're talking about a right to repair bill here that hopefully deals with this type of shitfuckery. Until then I guess I'm at the mercy of the Russian mob. again

@87percentrum so get a vm wherever

Why would it bother them if you open the back plate of your laptop? Warranty issues?

@asgs I guess so, they just gave me some bullshit about policy.

in case like this, you should buy a third party battery and install it yourself.

When I was working for Apple they were very happy and proud to announce that they were making more money repairing computers and phones than actually selling them... Brainwashing there was so severe nobody even began to see an issue with that.

I'll need to solve a similar issue soon. Are they anal about the microshit OS being replaced?

If I remember right you can search for the battery number and find any number of places to sell you a battery. I "thought" I saw batteries on amazon too.

@ostream louis rossman has a business and a channel where he talks about right to repair apple laptops. Although recently it's taken a turn for some serious rants, understandably. Apple seems to be forcing their repair shops out and price gating repairs.

@vomitmachine Apple is just doing a whole lot of shitty things. They were opposed to legislation that made "forced labor" (ie slavery) illegal. They actively lobbied to keep slave labor in China.

@Demolishun I wouldn't doubt that kind of stuff, but do you have any kind of references for that? Seems pretty extreme.

@molaram why would you choose bad service and loss of kidney over bad service and keeping your kidney

@NoMad I replaced the hdd with an nvme and gave MS the boot, but I didn't even get into that with them...
