Does anyone actually know css off by heart or would your webpage look like diarrhea if stackoverflow was down for the day

It was down last week. Does anyone know the root cause? How long was it down?

Sometimes I feel like the only developer in the world that doesn't have a stackoverflow account.

@thatcoolguyrob yes but I'm guessing you still find answers on a daily basis on stackoverflow right? If not you may be a God

@speence negative - I don't think I've been on Stackoverflow in about... God, maybe since 2008? I remember going on one day wondering if anyone could lay eyes on a PHP array iteration for me, and quickly spotted it was an object I was working with - I was totally blind to it. I think that's the only time I've ever been on it. I don't typically run in to code that stumps me :/

I have a friend that knows css cold, always get a instant response when I ask a question. Somehow I don't think he has time to google what I ask him in the 1 second it takes him to respond.

I very rarely use Google for CSS anymore. Been messing around with CSS for a few years now. The most tricky part is knowing how the position rule works.

Yea stack overflow in my opinion isn't super helpful for css there is just too many ways to do stuff

Mate CSS is the easiest part as a Webdeveloper.

@simeg You figure out the position property pretty quickly when you work with :before/after regularly. That's when it clicked for me.

I love CSS. There are some beautiful nasty tricks such as altering z-index stack with opacity 0.99 or hiding text in headers with negative indentation <3 I think Im one of those guys that go full css with few to none SO :)

@chrome I wouldn't say easiest. maybe for basic things. but once you get into the details...css is tough.

The only time I ever use anything other than my own brain for CSS, is for something on www.css3generator.com - and purely only so I can copy and paste it without having to type it all out.
