    Yeah, my employer is busy virtue signaling their butts off to everyone they possibly can, too.

    They even go out of their way to email all of their customers and affiliates to say they’ve renamed “master” to “main”, use “allow/blocklist” instead of the racist terms “white/blacklist” and that everyone else should do the same. It’s “to combat systemic racism” — instead of, you know, actually doing something about it. It’s also kind of funny how since all of this “racism” crap started, the country is actually A LOT FUCKING MORE RACIST THAN IT WAS. It’s almost like talking about racism constantly — and accusing over half the country of being racist 24/7 — makes people more aware of race and racial differences. Don‘t think about that pink elephant you’re thinking about right now! Shame on you! But seriously, people from different races are different. That isn’t a bad thing, but apparently acknowledging those differences is racist now? Even referring to someone’s race is racist? Except if you’re white, though, because it’s totes cool to hate on those racist whites.

    anyway, rant aside.

    All of this virtue signaling is tiring and honestly makes me lose even more faith in humanity. More than the aforementioned actual racism because people care more about how they appear than about issues they can actually tackle and fix. And if appearing better exacerbates issues? Oh well, people won’t blame me because I look good! Fuck off.

    Anyway (AGAIN).

    These people (my employer, and honestly a lot of others with similar mindsets) are the same people who won’t hire anyone white if there’s a non-white applicant available. They still supposedly care about skills, but willingly say that they see race as more important. Sorry, “diversity.” Same bloody thing. And yet everyone else is racist? Mhm. Fucking dreamworld.

    tl;dr
    The whole thing is a bunch of BS made up by a bunch of hypocrites who scream at you for not adopting their specific form of hypocrisy.

    @Root

    An email seems like 'a bit much'.

    @N00bPancakes This company has entire all-hands meetings dedicated to showcasing just how woke they are.

    They’re a long way past “a bit much.”

    @Root

    Ouch.

    There's certainly a full circle weirdness that can happen sometimes with those topics.

    Folks want to weave the weave of a thing, and think they can do it / help with a nice meeting / email.

    I don't know how much it has to do with 'woke' as much as it intersects with the sort of military structure of companies .... and issues we've seen where 'team player' used to be used as a sort of enforcement of positivity ... and entirely miss the point.

    @Root I doubt they have real, interesting or challenging projects if all they want to do is useless meetings. I also doubt they have real, interesting or challenging roles lol

    @d-fanelli

    At a company I worked at, due to a move in facilities the support team sat next to the HR team. The HR team actually complained the support team was "always at their desks working and not very sociable".

    That was how I learned that yes you're right ... some people really don't have better things to do ;)

    @N00bPancakes 😅 holy shit! You’d think @Root would’ve been fired if she refused diversity meetings due to an incoming deadline
