Has anyone else found that not all USB C inputs are the same? You can't just buy an cable and expect it to plug into any socket.

1. I replaced the cable for a power pack, but the new one didn't fit my OP6 socket well, no clicking and have to push it in very hard to get it to charge, and still eat to fall out
2. The pixel 2 cable fits it nicely and all cables are ready to plugin and work
3. I tried charging my new Pixel 4a with ur though but very hard to plug in. Had to install the charger and cable that came with.
4. Amazon Fire takes all of them nicely and send all the others can use the cable that came with it too

My phone's c port is somewhat longer than the C standard and so is the cable. Data flows on standard cables, power doesn't.

@homo-lorens my ones are tighter/shorter and well Google can't even make their cables/sockets consistent across versions... That's like wtf...

How the hell can this be a standard of monkey not even in the same company can agree on the specs

USB C, microusb was supposed to fix this plug fragmentation... Now u can even buy the right cable even though the name is all the same...

Really? I've been using USB-C cables interchangeably for a while now. Almost all of my portable devices use USB-C and I've used the same cable to charge two laptops, my phone, and my Nintendo Switch. Also used the same cable to plug a game pad into my PC to play games.

There's a plethora of problems with cheap knock off cables and chargers that don't fit the spec - but if you buy genuine brand ones you'll be fine.

No issues. One cable/plug is a bit tighter than the other but they all work. Can use my phone on my docking station to charge it. Headset, keyboard, phone, laptop. All connect to same cable for charging and data transfer.

All plugs should fit into all sockets (at least that USB 2.0 works). If a plug is a few milimeters longer, it should not affect its function.

But if all other "optional" features work (USB 3.2/4, Thunderbolt, HDMI/DP, Power delivery): Who knows. Cheap cables usually have only USB 2.0 "equipped", PD requires a minimum wire thickness, all other modes need additional wires, Thunderbolt and other high speed modes require shielding.
Don't get me started with active/passive cables.

And all of this is "just" cables, not mentioning devices usually do not have an indicator which alternative modes or even USB standards are supported.

@AlmondSauce the pixel 2 cable doesn't fit easily with the pixel 4a... They aren't knockoffs...

Maybe your pixel is a defective individual with a tight hole
