AFAIK the space is also converted into binary. So, the space button can also be removed :D

@Xoka Additionally, we can define a serial protocol where the user presses a button at least 5 times specifying a base clock frequency, and after that the input will be read bit by bit on that same button, ending the transmission on 00000000. This protocol would employ only one button, but is prone to clock slipping since there's no response line.

The established clock signal could be shown to the user in the form of a light or beep.
