in the freelance marketplaces, some people write, "Need a freelance developer for SMALL TASK". who the hell defines those tasks as SMALL task? if you knew this is a SMALL task, why don't you just do it yourself? if its so small, why don't you just ignore it? if its a small task, why don't you just spend five-ten minutes of your "precious" time to learn how to fix it?
& then when it comes to paying, they say, "My budget is 5$, because its a small task"
Seriously? in 5$ my electricity bill wouldn't be covered.
& Then comes to the marketplace commission! Most of the times, its about 20%
So, I get 4$
Then it comes to the bank tax and blah blah!
So, now I get around 2$ or 3$
Now, I don't know whom should I kill first -_-
The clients or the marketplace owner or the government or the bank owner or myself :}9
Hated function naming in python, because some functions are like "dothisorthat", some are "do_this_or_that", some are "doThisOrThat", some are, I don't know, what new technique of naming would python devs invent in the near future. Honestly, these naming creeps me out4
The university I used to study CSE, they had some OLD computers with Windows XP in them. Also, all those computers had TWO user accounts. One with the admin access and another one with normal access. Until this, it was fine.
But the browsers installed there were so old, even normal website struggles to load properly. and so many outdated apps, kept bugging us for update, but every time we click on UPDATE, they ask for the admin password, which we didn't have. So, most of the students were frustrated about this, but nobody took any action! :/
So, I hacked one of the computers' admin password. the password was "BRIGHT". I'm like, these people are never gonna set different passwords in different computers and remember them for eternity. Definitely all passwords have to be the same, and they were! Which saved my time.
So, I shared the password with everyone in my class and now they can install any apps they want. Which made me so happy!
But You know, words travel fast! Just one day after the hacking incident, the Seniors ( & the juniors ) came to me with their laptops to find their forgotten password, which made me earn some money & eat some delicious foods, also got to meet some beautiful girls of our campus ^_^
& I used to go to other classes to hack those Admin passwords for fun ^_^ But I never told them the password until they pay me or feed me something delicious! ^_^
I miss those good old days! ^_^6
Me: I majored in Computer Science & Engineering
Someone: Are you the eldest son of your parents?
Me: Yes, why? and How did you know?
Someone: Your parents must have forced you to study CSE, right?
Me: No! They never forced me! I chose CSE by myself, because I loved science & technologies
( and a long boring conversation between me and someone, which is not that important )
In my country, usually parents force their children to become something they want ( Though, my mom still says from time to time, "I really wished, one of children to be a Doctor", as my siblings are also not interested to become Doctor :/ ), but my parents never really forced me anything like that, which I'm really thankful for.5
Anybody use LinkedIn? I have created my LinkedIn account probably 3-4 years ago. but since then, I probably have logged in there maximum 10-20 times :/
Not that the account is needed but still curious to know what people actually look for, in a LinkedIn profile, how to get recognized, etc etc. Care to share any tips? or anything helpful for a Noob-LinkedIn user?8
I don't know why, but I find making MEDICINES just as amazing as programming. We program computers & they program a human body or an animal body. AWESOME!
BTW, I really hope that the COVID-19 vaccine will soon be available for everyone.6
I was new to Android development back then. One of the project requirements was to implement a feature, that will prevent the users from turning off the phone. Even if the users tries to turn off, the phone shouldn't turn off (specially when the phone battery is sealed). So, I tried a method and it works! But later the users reported that the feature doesn't work! I mean, I can clearly see that the feature works in all the phones I have ever tested. But later I realized that the feature worked in Debug APK but not in Release APK. I mean, seriously? It's not even some kind of pro-guard issues that happens with GSON+Parcelable. So, I did it again using a new method. Again, it works in Debug but not in Release. After trying and failing multiple times, finally I found a solution! May be this bug alone took me almost a week to fix it!2
Anybody loves python? I don't know why, but the more I use python, the more I seem to hate it. Specially the poor naming of the functions are just horrible! specially when you've been following the #CleanCodePrinciple strictly.
Let me give some example:
What does even "len" or "str" mean normally? is it a variable or a function? can anybody imagine?
anybody can understand what these things are, whether a variable or a function.
in python some functions are like "dothisorthat" and some are "do_this_or_that" some are "doThisOrThat". I mean, why can't you just follow an unified rule?
and there's this fragmentation between python 2 and 3! whether in stackoverflow or in youtube/udemy, a lot of them used python 2 and some uses python 3. I mean, can't they have some BackworkSupports?20
While I was in university, I used to be a good programmer (which I still am :D ), my friends used to copy my code for the assignments. One day, the teacher (one of my my mentors) called me in his office and said, "this is your code".
I'm like, in my mind, "How did he know this?"
The teacher said, "If you let others copy your code one more time, I will fail you".
I nodded my head in affirmation.
Later I understood that I've been a "Clean code" principle follower even before I knew this term. So, it was pretty easy to differentiate my codes from my friends. The teacher is really a genius ^_^5
People say, "Yarn is faster", blah blah blah and so on. So, I thought, I should give it a try. So, I tried and Holy Fucking SHIT! It took almost half an hour to download the dependencies! :|7
I don't know why, but in DevRant's weekly rant, I always find a word that I cannot understand. Even google translate is not that helpful in those cases. for this rant, the word is "Procrastination" :-/
Why some English words have to be so terrifyingly hard? These words always make me stay away from writing for the weekly rants :-/19
I'm really frustrated by the size of node_modules folder that gets created every time for every project. So, I've been looking for some time-space saving solutions. And I found PNPM ( https://pnpm.js.org/ ) , Yarn ( https://yarnpkg.com/ ) and Pkglink ( https://github.com/jeffbski/pkglink ). But I'm not sure which is better to serve my purpose.
Things I'm looking forward to solving:
1. I don't want to re-download the same packages over and over again
2. I don't want the same packages to be in multiple projects and eat up space
3. I want a stable, fast and disk space saving solution
Looking for experts advice.7
The things that make me wanna hate React Native is that the project folder becomes so BIG, makes it so hard to remove the whole project folder, including node_modules.
I really hate Dart but liking Flutter only because the project folder - along with the necessary code gets created pretty faster than React Native. On the other hand, React Native takes ages to load all the node_modules.
So, I'm asking the experts here, who have worked in both frameworks, should I leave RN and go for Flutter?
Cause, I don't wanna waste a handful of time every time just to create a RN project.
If I should stick with RN, please tell me a way so that I don't have to waste the time just to create a RN project.
Which CROSS PLATFORM Desktop App Development tool/framework do you use?
I've been using ElectronJS but I'm tired of it but I can't find any better alternative. If you know any better alternative please let me know. and please, do write why you think its better than ElectronJS
One of my clients requested me to add
in one small project created using ReactJS.
a very small project that just calls a server to send and receive data.
I'm not sure, what I'm gonna comment in the HTML/JSX section :/7
Google terminated our Google Play Console account. Neither they give any explanation, nor they send any replies from a real human. All they send are some auto replied emails. Nothing else. No human interactions.
I mean, disabling the account for a few days is fine. But terminating permanently!! Not just that, they say that they will keep terminating accounts in the future if we create! WHAT THE FUCK! Who comes up with these shitty ideas?
Google should know, If they keep changing their policies 100 times in a month, who's gonna keep reading those bullshits over and over again?
Some of our apps got published, later got rejected for "App Description". Seriously?? For App Description?? I mean, If the app descriptions were not okay, why did you publish the app in the first place?? Not just once, but multiple times!
Should they not be a little more considerate? We developers are working hard to enrich their platform, but they don't give a fuck.
Anything we can do to get our account reactivated?5
I've been trying Flutter the past 2days. I liked how amazing Flutter framework is but I also hated how UGLY the Dart language is. First of all, I've been doing Java(Android) and JSX(React). So, after coming from these languages, Dart seems awful. Here are the things that I hated the most:
1. JSON parsing: The worst part of Flutter/Dart. No GSON/Jackson equivalent. not even possible to make one as described in the doc
2. Redux for flutter. I tried and I hated it. So, Tried some other state management libs
3. the way static functions are written in a class
4. Widgets hiarachy
5. Ambiguity - "this context is not the context we need, we need that one to make it work. so, pass that even when you don't have it" (if you have used flutter, you will know what I mean)5
Today, I was thinking, "I haven't tried the new Edge Chromium version for so long. I should give it a try to see what's new have been added". So, I downloaded Edge and opened the EXE and Volla!
It says, You cannot use Microsoft Edge with an older version of Windows 10 (Mine is not that old btw).
I'm like, "F**k you Mircrosoft. You have ruined the OS so many times with your F**king updates. After trying so many things I finally disabled Windows 10's Force updates permanently. I don't wanna lose this freedom. No, Thank you..."
Bye bye microsoft Edge Chromium forever.5

How much do you earn from your Mobile Apps(from ads)? Whats the best paying Ad network in your opinion? What to do when Admob reduces most of the revenue(at the end of the month) saying "invalid traffic"?2
A few days ago, I thought, "I haven't updated React dependencies since. So, let's do it". Because, its gonna be a new demo app, I just ran "npx create-react-app my-app" and npm start inside the project. Holy cow!! It doesn't even start!!
Its showing this unknown error! So, I googled. but after trying a lot of "Solutions" it still doesn't work. So, I just gave up and thinking, "What about the Frameworks/Libraries build on top of ReactJS? Do the also have the same problem?"
So, I created a NextJS project and you guessed it, The same error exists in the NextJS projects. Then I tried the popular boilerplates created using NextJS ( and React) and Volla! They also contain the same error!
Ugghhh! I thought, tonight I'm gonna play with NextJS a little bit. But unfortunately, because of this React Error, I can't :(4
another windows 10 FORCE UPDATE just messed up my whole system. My mouse is not working properly, every app is become unresponsive within a few minutes, every window is needing life time to load, every folder is needing lifetime to navigate, Android Studio is taking hours to fire up. Why Microsoft!! WHY!!!???21
