Does anyone else think that Vscode is becoming a bit bloated ?

I have been using vscode for the past 4 years ,but over the last 2 years , I am noticing performance degradations as they keep on adding more features. I use minimal amount of extensions but still auto complete suggestions or auto import suggestions take a lot of time.

I tried out Sublime last week for a day and it was so much faster than vscode. Granted , vscode is convenient but I genuinely feel there needs to be another alternative to vscode or a less bloated version of it.

Do you use VSCode on Windows?
I have noticed that it runs much better on Linux, which is the case for most Electron applications.

@Benedikt I have a windows laptop running on i5 6th gen and a macbook air with the M1 chip. It runs better on Windows 🤷‍♂️

VSCode and Sublime work differently because of the underlying tools used to make them. I have always felt vscode to be bloated and slow, specially for larger projects, but I do use it on ocasion

I've had the opposite experience over the past 2 years:
    - VSCode starts way too slowly, I hit the feedback button and bitch about it, a few updates later it starts openning fast enough to tolerate
    - the settings page scrolls like shit, I go to the github issue page and "like" a few comments... a few updates later it gets fixed with some additional features to boot
    - so on and so forth...
I for one very much HATE the fact that VSCode runs on electron, but can't really complain that much, right now it's an awesome editor and in pretty good shape too

Bleh, it uses Electron. It's basically as bloated as they come.

Reading through many comments on this, I'd go with "Windows is bloated".

Also, it does whatever it wants, so why wonder about performance. You dont own it, it wont let you control it, but it will control you, after a while.

I guess its whole purpose is to prepare human brains for AI mindcontrol.
