I have skipped a job follow up after a nice interview at a seemingly great software development firm two months ago, and it was because they used slightly different technologies. Now, I wanna do ANYTHING to switch my current job to another one.

How should I approach the company I didn't follow up with now? Especially when they still have the job posting on their website.

Well. Honestly, you now want something from them...

So the power lies on their side.

Pessimistically this means you'll have no method of bargaining. Deal or no Deal.

From that position, try to make an effort.

It will be very hard to not sound either desperate (my job is so shitty, I take everything please take me) or "indecisive" (after 2 months of thinking I got struck by lightning and I think it might be better to take your offer)...

Worst, sounding arrogant. (Humble peasants, let me inform you that I made the decision that you can recruit me).

Reason I write this in a bit jokingly way is that you should be really careful of what you say and of what an impression it makes.

2 months is a long time...

PS: Most managers are very good lie detectors. Don't lie / make up a story why you came to the decision to reapply.

@IntrusionCM The honest story is that fact that I spent time learning their technologies (hello, Flutter) and I had two other interviews which showed I was not fit for the other jobs. I believe now that I am a really good fit to their firm and I can contribute and grow there better than how I do now (changed dev job in current firm to a business job and wanna go back, but no jobs open).

Does that sound really desperate? :)

    @aj7397 no.

    Desperate sounds usually like this:

    Me: Why did u reconsider?

R: I'd really like to work here *smiles*

    Me: Why?

R: *nervous chuckle* the people seem all very nice and your tech stack is fascinating! *SMILING HARDER*

Me: our tech stack is pretty common, any particular reason why / what you find interesting?

R: Eh... Ehm... Database's? like MySQL?

Usually I'll stop poking then, cause it's blatantly obvious said person is desperate to change the job and hasn't prepared anything at all.

Meaning I could roast him, but - except for me having a lot of Schadenfreude - wasting time gaining nothing interesting in information.

If you go down the route, please please prepare yourself and try to show case a (real) project so the employer can get to know your abilities.
