Completely agree, I see the same content being posted constantly.
Someone had posted ASCII breasts yesterday telling people to imagine them. -
xios16438yI don't agree. It's about expressing emotion. The more important part is the expression. The less important part is recepient understanding. ++ Doesn't tell anything because it's anonymous. And it really isn't about deep and meaningful conversation, even tho it sometimes happens. devRant is free therapy. Use it the way you see fit and don't restrict methods of others. =D
-- edited out inappropriate political references to wigs -
@xios It's common courtesy really to do a quick check to see it hasn't been posted already.
Don't bring politics into this 😂 -
xios16438y@thmnmlst at one point that was my job, yes. Now it's more of whole product design. What made you ask?
-
@xios the trouble with your assertion is that '++' isn't anonymous at all. The poster knows you agree with them and anyone who cares about what you agree with can go look up your ++s on your profile.
-
xios16438y@starless true, it is possible. I seldom do it unless it's some user that generates interesting content. Also you can't view who liked someone else's comment. BryanOfEarth got two ++. There is no way for me to tell who gave them. That makes them anon for me. So most of the ++ is in practice anonymous to everyone else except the receiver.

xios16438y@thmnmlst it's a hard knock life. To be honest I am applying for a normal dev position to get back on the coding horse and out of the fucking mindnumbing meetings.
It seems like there are more lower-quality or duplicate comments on rants these days.
Please, save me some time and show a little respect for members of the community by ++ the comment you agree with instead of adding a nearly identical comment and tagging the commenter.
Additionally, comments like '@commenter 😂' when the great comment is still at +0 generally don't add to the discussion and should probably be downvoted.
Comment if you think you can add something, not just because you saw it.
