I fucking hate people who report somebody else's work as their own successes so much.

I've written a fair amount of perf tests for our project so far (actually I'm like the only person doing that). Some fucker from another team asks me if I could write one more. I agree, because why not. I spend a few hours, making sure to cover all cases and commit the test. Then the same fucker runs it and reports it as HIS PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS.

0 credit given to me. Fuck you, I just wanted to be helpful and you used this.

I'm still quite young and tend to fall for shit like this, but getting more and more grumpy because of those people.

I guess you have to think about who your client is. If it was the guy who claimed credit for the test, then that’s good...he’ll come to you again. You added value.

But, if he’s a peer and is competing with you for promotion, that’s bad.

I’m happy for my clients to take credit for my work. Their skill was in coming to me for advice. They can reap the rewards. As long as they pay me.

A lad at my old company used to do this. I mean literally ask other people for code then take the credit for it. One dev cottoned on, dumped a little Easter egg in a client project, just an alert that said “[thieving dev] really likes Nickelback” luckily it cropped up before it got to the client but yeah, he stopped doing it after that

I mean... are you using git (or really any VCS)? It should be very easy to show any higher ups / managers that it was you who originally wrote the test.

These people are kind of hosts ..they survive on somebody elses hard work ...don't let them take credits of your hardwork and time.
