I do not like the Zig programming language. It looks like Javascript for unnecessary reasons and has some weird syntax.

    Then do not use it.

    There are a lot of languages I dislike and I just avoid them :)

    Or are you forced to use it for some project?

    Also, what do you mean by “for no reason”.

    Whether you like it or not, javascript is a well known language that also follows much the same visual theme as C,C++,C#,Java and a few more, when designing a new language you can do worse than to follow one if the main themes ;)

    I just took a quick look, and I do not think it looks very much like js, at least not more than c#, c or java.

    Its just one more lang using curly brackets and the var keyword.

    @Voxera dude, why so serious? It's just a rant in a place where we rant and have a release. Who said I'm forced or want to use it? I just like to evaluate new technologies and I like what Zig promises but I don't like the syntax so I wrote a rant. Chill out!

    You're seriously complaining about a heavily C-inspired language looking like C? Or is it about some details?

    At least it wasn't thrown together almost overnight because marketing didn't like Scheme.

    @rantsauce welcome to the internet. If you post something in it then expect to get a reply.

    Also zig looks like your standard C curly styled language, dunno what you are smoking

    @AleCx04 Sure, anyone with internet connection can say whatever they want and I can too so...

    @deadlyRants @AleCx04 I don't know where C is mentioned in my rant. I don't see the resemblance with C.

    @AleCx04 Also, chill my dude. It's not worth it.

    @rantsauce wtf are you talking about?

    @rantsauce well, if your mot forced to used but just found it it’s not a rant.

    It was created by one person, offered as open source for free.

    Complaining about it in this setting is criticizing the person for doing it, thats more like harassment, which is mot cool.

    You do not rack down on someones free open source project just because you don’t like it.

    If you was forced to use it, fine, then you have a right to complain but not just because you found it.

    JS looks great, just like the language it's inspired from, there are other better reasons to hate it, Syntax isn't one of them.

    @rantsauce I mentioned C because Zig is literally intended as a modern C replacement with as few unnecessary changes as possible.

    And JS, like Java and most other modern languages, has a syntax directly derived from C.

    WUT?! Where are you living? The US??

    So can I say that because you're criticizing me right now that you're harassing me? Jeez!

    @Voxera agreed, the effort made by a single dev in terms of the lang, documentacion etc is quite amazing. I for one appreciate what the language brings to the table and wish Andrew Kelly gets more support that appreciates his genius.

    It's hard to do what he is doing. Have you checked out Nim and V yet? Nim is one of my favorite projects. Has a small but strong community and can make use of everything C through a very potent FFI

    @AleCx04 No, I mainly use C# today, it’s been 15 years since I did any serious C programming but i will :)

    Looking at my replies here, it turns out, I can be a complete jerk. Didn't know I had the capacity. Maybe it should be less on the internet and more in real life with those who deserve it.
