Well,
Remote != world wide
It is always better to have everyone in the same timezone.
Why would they ever hire someone who can never be present in stand ups / other meetings ? -
I'm in the US only applying to jobs in the US.
Remote means never coming into the office, so stand ups would be done though a virtual meeting.
If they have a location requirement, it should be listed in the job ad. I cant keep wasting 30 minutes of PTO to find it out in the call. -
"Fully remote" positions can sometimes require people come in a few times a year - but yeah, it should be crystal clear in the ad
It's such a common practice to hide this stuff though that I'd enquire quickly via email first, before giving it any further attention. -
Nihil757524yI posted job ads like that recently. Tried to limit the range mainly so people could join us for social events and the occasional office day.
Just didn't want to leave someone out... -
Just to clarify, I'm not saying jobs that are mostly remote but require occasional travel to the office is wrong. But if the location is specifically listed as remote but requires the employee to live somewhere specifically, it should be stated.

@shoogknight Well in this case, I honestly don't know.
US (If I'm correct) is only 3 time zones. (I'm in Canada)
At worst you'll need to wake up at 6am instead of 8.
Yep, in this case I'm with you.
Why the fuck do employers post remote position jobs, only to let you know in the first call that they require the employee to live in/near a certain city. That's not a remote position and it happened several times in my job hunt
