It's not always like that tho, I know some very smart people who are super nice, there's also a lot of arrogant stupid people. Arrogance has nothing to do with smartness, it's just that there a lot of arrogant people regardless, so that also includes smart people.
-
@SoldierOfCode yes, the other way around is not true ofc. A lot of ignorant and arrogant people around for sure.
However, I have observed that being kind has more downsides and those who are smart and kind are extremely rare and have strict boundaries. -
@Floydimus kind people are rare regardless of intelligence tho, from my experience at least

Hazarth95194yYeah, I think most start as nice people when they are still full of hope and motivation, but this work sucks the life out of you and at some point you really can't afford to hold eveyones hand.
Alternatively I also think the issue might be with the amount of beginners in universities. So when you're one of the 10 people that actually can code among 200 who can't even google shit, your ego grows proportionally to how good you actually are... Literally feels like you're the only real human in your world for a while... I was lucky enough to have worked with some very smart people even since high school and that tempered my own expectations a lot. I was realy damn good in uni, but I knew people (in other fields mostly), that I had absolute respect for. Their work morale and skills were off the charts... But those are rare -
@Hazarth
I once lived in this world as a child and am pretty sure, that most people definitely don't start as nice people. -
rox798354yyeah in my experience mostly self learned are arrogant :(
Atleast I try my best to be kind :) -
Sounds like an excuse to be a dick with extra steps. Like Neil DeGrass Tyson! That guy thinks he's the best thing since sliced bread. Those guys needed more hugs as kids. Always something to prove, but too callous to connect with anyone to prove it.

@SoldierOfCode true. Kind people and kindness is the rarest trait in this materialistic world.
And I can totally understand if some kind person turns into an arrogant asshole, because the world exploits kind people the most.
@Hazarth exactly this. It all boils down to how one has acquired their knowledge. Hardwork and efforts are the main pillars to become a smart individual. And when you have put so much effort into yourself to earn a better life and some dick expects you to spoon feed them all the knowledge without putting in efforts, you have all the right to be arrogant.
@Oktokolo everything is a learnable skill.
@rox79 agreed.
Some of the smartest and brightest people I know are arrogant as fuck.
And I believe they have all the right to do so, for they have earned it.
Be kind and leechers will drain the living soul out of you.
If you aspire to achieve greatness for self, then setting boundaries is important.
This does not mean, you have to harsh to everyone, rather it's about figuring out whom to give your time and attention.
