Why does snapchat on android suck so badly?
Lemme get this out of me.
They admitted to focusing on the iOS variant more from now on. Why? Becuase it has a larger user base.
That means they will not give many fucks about the ONE BILLION ANDROID USERS.

But about the app itself...
With quite normal usage (let's say around 30 minutes opened in total, daily) snapchat uses more battery than my screen. What the fuck?
It is literally at the very top.
It might go up to 800mAh calculated drain. I don't know how they did it.

Anyways, it doesn't even work well.
It has a lot of lag, crahses, and makes my phone as hot as a cup of tea.
I suspect that's becuase it keeps using the camera. That is, keeps it on even when you are on a different screen. This is bullshit. I do sometimes chat with people on SC but I try to minimise it for this reason.

The UI itself is okayish but still lags beyond comprehension in comparison to other apps (wow, I love the android discord client, it has full functionality at low resource cost).
As far as I'm concerned it uses some sort of web technology mix. It does use chromium so I suspect HTML, CSS and JS is also present in the source code.

Also, let's make this a terrible mobile apps rant - feel free to contribute.

Ok. So I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 zoom with Android 4.

    Facebook:
If i download the fb app, i will sometimes be able to use it's chat function and sometimes it sends me to the play store to download the messenger app.

    Facebook messenger:
If I download the messenger app, it will drain my battery without even being active. Like, I can boot the phone, never open the app, and my phone will be hot af, and will tell me that fb messenger used up most of the battery.

    Google App:
The latest update causes the ui to crash whenever you try to hold the home button to get in that menue where you can kill apps. Only way to fix it is to uninstall latest updates.

No, I cannot upgrade to Android 5 it is not available for this model and was not suggested to me by Samsung.

No I can't get a new phone since Samsung doesn't make this model anymore. They have an s5 version but it's wider, so it doesn't fit well in my hands and does not have the same zoom ring which I love on this phone.

Personally, I stopped using the official fb app years ago. I really recommend swipe for facebook since it has a client-sided friendly UI and uses tinfoil for browsing.
It has some neat features that really make the experience better, like a special photo viewer, separate comments popup, so you don't need to load a bare mobile fb page every time.

I hate the official messenger app too.
It used to work well, perfect I would say, but now it drains battery like crazy while copying snapchat. I get some weird errors and crashes too.
I advise you download messenger lite from apkmirror to get a proper experience. It has all the basic messenger functionality while being super slim, and I don't even notice it in the battery usage screen.

    Also, I'm using a OnePlus 3 tunning CM13 from sultanxda (android 6.0.1)

I haven't used Snapchat but as for Facebook, I use the full app because my Xiaomi Redmi note 4 can handle it. But! I totally recommend Facebook lite as the perfect alternative. It even have chat so you won't need messenger installed.
