My friend is using his brothers office laptop for his personal use. Apparently his brothers IT department gave him a new laptop but forgot to collect the old laptop.

I feel this is unethical. What do I do such that the laptop is returned to company without my name coming out? I initially wanted to delete user account but laptop has an administrator account. Any ideas?

Personally, I wouldn't get involved. Don't loose a friend over something that doesn't directly affect you, IMHO.

Yeah, if their oversight allowed a laptop to go unaccounted for, they probably don't need it badly enough to risk a friendship over it.

Sometimes companies don't care once the computer is a certain age or out of warranty.

Your friend is using his brothers old laptop..... question WTF has it got to do with you?

@helloworld CAUSE It's Not his brothers laptop. It's the company's laptop, he is supposed to return it but has not. I felt that's unethical to do so. Not sure which part you did not understand -_-

@sid-nerd ...and my comment is still the same, it is absolutely none of your business, do not interfere no
matter how much it bothers you.

@sid-nerd I see it exactly like @helloworld. If there is any problem with this it would be between the brother and the company and it has nothing to do with you. Playing the ethic police won't do any good. Also would you really risk serious consequences for him just because you feel that it is unethical?

@darkfire000 Also if you would do that, imho you would be the asshole here. (No offense)
