Fault of having a shit hiring process and stupid expectations, the company I am working at are turning themselves at hiring massively in India instead trying to work with the United States and Canadian market for embedded devs.

I proposed a few good candidates but got instantly refused because they apparently "lacked" experience. Did not even try to speak with them at all. Try finding a good and loyal senior at average market rate, I dare you. The tech we are working on is honestly not rocket science, anyone can be good with the appropriate training. They started hiring like crazy in India instead to teamwork with us, probably because it is cheaper, but I have been in a company that did the same and it is currently tanking like crazy.

So they will likely impose me, my colleagues and my boss to train these guys with a 10h jet lag difference and impose us work at the office even though it is not necessary. I am waiting to see what will be the final decision but I am honestly thinking of polishing my CV and look elsewhere.

    xD going to have the same soon in my company. And I was the idiot who suggested it. Thankfully I have a freedom(hopefully) to reject any candidate, if he will not meet my requirements.

    Already regretted offering tbh. But the goose is on the loose.

    And soon you will be replaced by an Indian developer. Beware real talk

    Been in two companies that did that.

    Second one tried to turn a few of us into supervisors.
    They told us we weren’t to do any hands on work anymore, we were instead responsible for getting the offshore devs who new nothing about our business to be a success.
    None of us were asked if we wanted to do this role.
    None of us were offered a new job title to reflect the increased responsibility we were given.

    We objected of course and pointed out that being a dev but hands off was basically going to be a career killer if we ever needed to find another role.

    But the answer was more or less “this is your job now if you don’t like it find another”.
    So we did. Two thirds of the team resigned that week.

    No one is deciding my career but me.
    Whatever you do, do what you think is right for you, not what they tell you

    Start polishing the CV. This happened at a company I interned at.

    It started with "we're hiring in India cause it's cheaper", then went to "the devs in NA are working overtime to fix the shitty code the offshore devs keep adding" then finally to "all the good devs resigned and the company is in rough shape now".

    One suggestion to all software developers from me;

    Always keep an up to date CV and attend to interviews, even if you enjoy your job.
