Was reading about NFT art and just wondering how it works so watched the video and to me these sites smell like a scam....

https://youtu.be/CFD_8oDxw1k

$20 to list per site and well can upload the same art to multiple sites.

What the hell is a buyer actually getting then?

At least real artwork can't be copied with just a click?

    Yep, exactly

You basically get bragging rights on owning the hash of the file (or the file if you want to see it that way).

@LinusCDE but the file could have many hashes? What's to keep a buyer/author from uploading and reselling elsewhere?

@donuts I think they just present one JPG as THE original. And you get the proof that you own that file. I think it's meant to be similar to real paintings in museums. Sure there are copies if it, but you will own "the official one".

Still just useless bragging rights, imo. Anyone can also download that image, though.

As long as it makes the rich spend money that gets cycled back in to the economy it's fine by me. We're seeing the trickle-down model collapse and I hope this kind of pointless money sink can help.
On the other hand, since NFTs can be sold as well and they can't be tracked by the tax office, they're an excellent asset for tax evasion.
