Would it make sense for devRant to have a +1 for every time someone mentions you? That way your rating/score is a combination of updates and platform engagement? That's something I'd like to see if the devRant guys are up to it.

that's not a good idea imho. what if someone calls you a complete moron, would that be +1'd too? What about bots? Adding friends to every post/comment just to inflate your score. not a lot of value added here and raises some issues

I don't think this would be the best implementation but I definitely like ideas that award quality comments and people who promote good discussion. We'll think more about that, because I think stuff like that can be valuable.

There would obviously need to be an algorithm to determine whether it's organic or not, but I think it's possible.
