Guys, a "standup" is in the name. The idea is it's a meeting that's quick enough you don't need to sit down.

A 3 hour standup is, in no way shape or form a standup. It's just another pointless meeting that I'll keep on in the background while I pay zero attention.

    Yep.

Ours is regularly 30 min, sometimes 45. And it’s almost always pointless.

I’ve taken to playing Terraria while waiting for my turn to say my three sentences.

@Root in my first internship we'd do 10 min on the clock, it was more than enough

You're weak if you can't stand up for three hours

Seeing as you keep it in the background, I assume remote work.

A while ago I was in a similar situation, we forced people to turn their webcams on and actually stand, turned those meetings back to ~2 mins pp fast enough

Generally a standup should be between a very small team, with less than members with each member not taking more than 2 minutes. If something needs discussion for more than 2 minutes, take it up in a separate meeting without wasting everyone's time.

@ostream some people think standing up is just a "gimmick", so they don't feel compelled to do it

What???? Who are these clowns who think it's fine to have a stand up that long. Oh god! I'm scared at the thought of the time that's being wasted. Tell me that it's not a daily stand up.
