I must be getting old. I seem to be the only one confused about 20,000 people successfully paying $60 to buy a digital 3d object from star wars last night. Disney made over a million in 4 seconds.
NFT's powered through blockchains. Feels like a pyramid scheme for the 21st Century. Everyone needs to calm down.

    @arcadesdude
    What about a website that simply lets you "buy" digital assets for tokens (but not blockchain or crypto). You can earn tokens for free by submitting and "selling" your own decent artwork. Then trade your tokens for other artists work. No real money change hands but you still get to collect rare digital art. Seems fairer, more environmental and anti-corporate. Sharing and showcasing good art for the sake of it.

    @ostream except it is more dumb as it is not connected to any sort of responsibility, like shares that are direct investments in a company (at least initially).

    @JustThat those who believe in the power of the NFT will tell you the NFT ensures authenticity :)

    Similar to Apple fans - once you start, you're locked in, and you'll be convinced you love it. Apparently.

    nah, you're not getting old.

    you're just old enough to understand how dumb it is.

    not a pyramid scheme, doesn't fulfill the characteristics of one, but certainly a scam, or at least a con.
