The saying "Perfect is the enemy of done" is so much BS.
The war on perfection is the enemy of artistic expression.
Look at old world architecture vs modern crap. Crafts are no longer a thing but stuff is only made as effeciently as it can be for the greedy and impatient.
The artists and craftsmen of old knew well that perfect was achievable and constantly strove to be more and more perfect in their arts and by side effect on themselves. In this mad world we've lost that to the pragmatists who see no value in the art of perfection or in those who do not value those who do.
The "doneists" can go fuck themselves. Perfectionism is where true artistic expression is at.14 -
1. Coding gets me naturally high. Mentally sound and sharpens my focus.
2. Beating a challenge by code is fun. And watching something I spent much time on working is great. Like setting up all those dominos to watch them cascade and fall down one after another...bliss!
3. People think I'm smart because I can type instructions into inanimate objects and make lights flash on the screen.3 -
Finite State Machines are awesome! Resume from reboots and automation is possible even on older Powershell versions without Workflow support. Setting state and transitions resuming where it left off is huge for getting PC's set up. Unfortunately can reimage due to no vl reimaging rights but scripting is totally possible...and with it creating it's own scheduled task to run on startup it does what it needs, then reboots resumes and deletes the task when done.1

Love writing comments, hate writing documentation.
Ugh, I know it is needed but just don't care about it as much as the code/comments which is a more direct 'here is what this does' approach. Writing idiot proof documentation sucks. Any little change? Have to remember to update the docs. Yeah, not happy.1 -
Google's slogan is (was?) "don't be evil" but all of their new MD apps are blindingly white light themes!
Retinas?, no don't need them. Thanks Google.15 -
This is so true. I agree no one will slow down and put in the effort to make lasting stuff or it is rare.

Rereading old code I wrote and asking myself questions while reading it...then reading the next line, a comment, answering those very questions.
Past self. Thank you very much. 😎 -
Telling a UDP joke to someone who doesn't work in the Information Technology industry won't go over very well...because they probably don't get IT.2

Is social life a thing? I wouldn't know.
But then again I'm not to fond of people in general (only a few in particular). -
