Curious about people's opinions on CMS's. I feel like charging people thousands of dollars for a WordPress page seems unreasonable but it seems to be a common thing.

I'm asking because a local developer I've been put in contact uses WordPress, and from my experience it's usually the same or a very similar theme, with functionality that could be accomplished by a static site. The only advantage I've really thought of is that it's less work for him and the customer can update things, but I'm also a firm believer in minimalism, and WordPress for a static page still seems like such overkill

I am an Application Developer myself so my views on CMS costs might be off...

However, I believe it will always sum up to the same:
    - How complex is the costumer requirements
    - How many hours will it take to complete
    - What is the level of expertise required

This being said, in my opinion the use of a CMS is valid if it is the best solution for the client.

I never used it professionally myself but I believe that WordPress is valid if managing the content had to be a simple task and if the requirements are not that complex.

On the cost, well that depends on how custom the design must be and if there is a need for custom development (if there is, WordPress is probably not the solution).

Again, the bottom line is how much of your time it takes and how much is your time/experience is worth.

I found most of the work is to educate the customers how to use the CMS. You know, customers are stupid and they should get charged more.
