You think it would be easy to find topics that capture an audience? Some of those kids just get lucky, but what says you'd be as good at self-advertising or entertaining? It's never too late to try, but my money is on you wasting your time and money.

Plus some of those same kids have other people working for them to help them make content. So it's not all peachy and basement geniuses.

I had a thought about this recently, came to me as I was on the toilet as many great (and sometimes shitty) thoughts do:

Even with the ridiculous amounts of money being made, "Youtuber" is the absolute last way I want to make money, has anyone else had this sensation ever?

I have no talent for youtube videos and only some marketing and self-promotion talent. It’s not that I want to do those things. It’s that the things I do, website building and management, have come to a dead end by comparison. Many would rather slap up a Wix or Squarespace site and call it a day than engage with my services. Which is why I had to quit freelancing and work for an agency that has the sales and marketing power and talent to do the kind of convincing that gets the bigger contracts. And I just sling CSS and do battle with Node breakages all day. I do sometimes feel like a clown for following “the rules” of getting up and going to work every day when flapping lips on some YouTube channel has made others ridiculously wealthy.

You're making a living and have an actual future in your career. You can take out a proper bank loan, and that says enough for how stable your life is.
