Youtube itself is guilty of this.
Also the censoring going on with most major social platforms. Now they are all echo chambers for imbeciles (Twitter). -
@Frederick this particular XKCD probably applies to a lot of the kinds of people you’re talking about

Look at the comments first - if there are none and the stuff isn't fresh, you generally don't want to watch/read/listen to it.
Like/dislike ratio is also a telltale sign: Too low obviously is bad - but too high reeks of heavy moderation and/or bubble content - both are a bad sign too. -
Root797703y@Oktokolo The like/dislike ratio is no longer visible, thanks to big brother google. He really does know what’s best for me, so I watch as many ads as I possibly can. Fortunately, he makes that really easy. He really does have my best interest at heart, as long as that interest is making him as much money as possible.

Nope. I am pretty spoiler immune. And you don't have to actually read the comments, just look whether they are there.
It is just a precheck heuristic. If it takes more time than skipping the intro, you are probably doing it wrong.
You know who is pathetic? People who turn off comments after they get negative feedback on something they posted
