I am in 3rd year of my college and I am a bit worried.
How you people apply for jobs? Do you just walk in a company and talk to the receptionist or.....?

Are u for real dude? I would say post a lot of buzz words on your resume with a lot of dev tools and projects you've done. After that, pray that some company is looking for an entry level dev. Once your foot's in the door you're golden.

@mantekillah how will a company read my resume?

I just walk in and find an empty cube, and sit down and start working. 😁
Seriously, you prepare a resume or a CV, and you submit it to companies you are interested in working for. You can also use LinkedIn or Dice or Monster, if they are available to you.
Most companies have a careers link on their website where you can find what openings they have available.

LinkedIn and indeed are no-brainers (my current employer found me on indeed). There are often area-specific groups on Facebook that are good resources for networking and job hunting.
Once you've found a company thats hiring, begin the soul crushing process of filling out the application and providing your resume.

First thing first. It's not about job. It's about passion but if you really have to cash your passion and pay bills then you have to apy for a job. Make a kickass resume and by kickass I mean share your university projects and provide linksto that. Add your technical skills. Use buzzwords as much as you can. Provide a link to your GitHub's and Stackoverflow's profile and look for job openings on LinkedIn. That'll probably get you sweet job. Don't just settle for a job. Look for the work that'll make you forget about the word "job" 😎
