We need a rant filter option that removes all memes from the feed. DevRant is becoming like 9gag if this continues. Not speaking about the reposts ...

    @dfox has already an simple repost filter implemented.

    @stop yea but there are still a lot if reposts. Maybe people do not mark them as repost.

    @Traser yeah I actually wanna know that in detail. Is it like if one person marks it as repost, does the other person does not even see it, if he has -1'd any repost in past using the algo?

    @sam9669 @dfox would you like to explain the system behind the "mark as repost" system a little bit? I bet most here are interested in such things :)

    I think when a picture is uploaded and the compression added, the hash on the file is computed and searched in the database. That is how i would implement this.

    The problem with filehashes, which are probably used, is that if 1byte is different its an complete other hash.
