Voxera115853yWell I have held such a position, but not because I applied for one but because I built the network and the application from bottom up along with the devops pipeline and all ;)
And I did this over the course of 17 years.
So sure, hire someone and give them a few years to get up to speed and it might work :P -
@Voxera And when they retire or leave, good luck finding someone else.
actually, that's probably how these positions come to be. -
Voxera115853y@lbfalvy by the time I left we already had others that where ready to take over and no position was singular.
So new hires would never be expected to be experts in all areas, they usually came in as junior devs and after a few years if they had the aptitude and interest they would get more diverse responsibilities.
We where about a dozen devs + testers by then.
Not the one or two person team we started with. -
JsonBoa29593y"startups - just like real companies! everybody is miserable and some trust fund sleazeball pockets other sleazeballs' money because investing is broken!"
Not really. Startups do shit like what @sjwsjwsjw described and ask even more of you, like unclogging the toilet. And try to pay you in "exposition" or "entrepreneurship" or "equity" and any other not-real-money shit. Fuck startups and the fuckers who create those. -
@Voxera I think he got hacked or sold his account, a long sequence of his last comments are ads but the earlier content indicates sophisticated language skills that a bot wouldn't have.
we want you to be
- full stack developer (you do everything front end, back end)
- dev ops/SRE (you can sort out the deployment CI/CD pipeline, cloud platform services AWS/GC/Azure whatever)
- architect (you can design the software as well)
all in 1, you gotta be multiple roles/departments
good luck getting this experience on the job (hell in a startup is not for everybody and certainly not for me)
also why the fuck companies who aren’t startups ask for this idk
not sure if i missed any roles/competencies so far , don’t forget you need like >=3 years of experience possibly in every field for entry roles and more for anything higher than that
