Voxera113888yI actually liked to work with lotus notes as long as you did things it was designed for.
But once you had to go beyond it got more problematic.
And as an email platform it fell far behind as soon as html email got common. -
Voxera113888y@nblackburn Its a group collaboration platform like share point or novell group ware.
Today you have internal websites and exchange doing much the same work but lotus notes started sometime in the 70s I think as a console message and information platform.
It has support for building easy object databases but with very much scripting and computed fields.
Advanced forms and logic for displaying different forms depending on current data, user group or permissions.
Support for replication between different servers even when connected by dial up
Modems and this was probably the real deal for large and spread out organizations. No other of the shelf solution did this as easy as notes. -
@Voxera it would have been cool to experience it back in the seventies.
My only experience of Lotus are people's hilarious rantings about it and that I've had to create emails that should render pixel perfect on all email clients including Notes. That task makes your hair turn gray..
Lotus Notes is absolutely the worst platform known to man. Every time a ticket comes in I want to set the Domino servers on fire.
