    @lbfalvy they indeed do, but calculating all that blur for layers upon layers of elements is a stressful task for an average laptop

    This page with the comment box open includes 678 elements, I would expect a majority of them is visible and the browser doesn't optimize boxes that are provably single-color so yeah, that should be quite a challenge even for a powerful laptop.

    Update: I just tested it.

    page: This rant

    gpu: Nvidia GT750M

    browser: Firefox

    os: Linux

    display server: Wayland

    driver: Nouveau

    compositor: KWin

    Conclusion: Shit but very stable framerate, no sign of heavy load on graphics card.

    Hypothesis: Firefox has resource limits in place to prevent this exact thing.
