It was what it was
Because windows was shipped everywhere
Including people who pirated windows and installed it everywhere too
And it was default browser
And most people can't change their defaults.
Therefore people will be stuck with Microsoft edge now, which is just Google Chrome engine under the hood, but whatever -
max199313683yBurn the Browser and also the company who is still using it in 2022.
IE 11 general support was just dropped yesterday. I wonder how many are still using it. -
IE stuck around for so long, because Microsoft shoved Windows up their customers asses. And they didnt bother using something other than the board tools.
And the same customers didnt bother to update/relearn afterwards, because they were comfortable with using the same shit every day.
IE was always crap. It is a piece of software, that in it's entirety never supported any proper js standard, or css standard.
I avoided it whenever possible, including back then. -
Rember !
IE6 CSS is still more powerfull than CSS 3 !
Show me a CSS demo which directly uses DirectX filters ! -
It was.
Except for this teeny titsy dootsy detail called "cooperation".
We could have had a strictly typed language instead of the abomination called javashit eh Javascript.
If some of the big guys would have just tucked their penis with the tattoo "Not invented here" away and cooperated.
Imagine how beautiful that could have been...
Unpopular opinion. IE6 stuck around for so long because it was the best browser in its time. It's horseshit today but only because that generation liked it so much they couldn't bring themselves to leave it.
