call-a32358yI mostly experience it as never being happy with my own code (feeling like it should be cleaner/better structured/more efficient/...), especially when receiving praise from others about the same piece of code. That contrast between my own contentment and that of others about the same piece of work is really confronting sometimes... Makes me feel like I'm not a good coder at all and others just don't seem to notice (or are even worse, which is not a comforting thought)

iAmNaN68458yYes, but I push it down and move on. If we listen to our negative inner voice, we will never progress. We will give up and be dishwashers for the rest of our lives.

call-a32358y@iAmNaN exactly! I also like to compensate by checking screenshots/todo-notes/issue-tracker history from a few months (or even years) back and considering how far I've come. When looking at code from your past, you usually get a sense of "wow, I'd write this so much better now", which I try to convert into "look how much I've improved since then".

I've been wanting to ask this for a while now: How does everyone feel about imposter syndrome? Have you ever experienced these moments of finally getting the hang of something and then suddenly have it all smashed within a second?
How do you deal with it?
