In interview tests I don't mind you testing for me to know something. However I don't care for tests that are designed to verify the lead is smarter.

Hmmm. As one who interviewed quite a few devs for various platforms, I sometimes ask questions I know the dev should not be able to answer. This is not meant to make me seem smarter, but to see how the dev handles being unable to answer. I also been in interviews where the interviewer had problem to explain the question properly, leading to a lot of confusion.
