I'm really tired of hearing "hey isn't there a plugin for that"?

Idiot that's the reason your fucking WordPress site has 78 plugins and it runs like shit

I personally hate Wordpress. Sure it's great to get a site up and running really quickly, but it will run and look the same as the millions of other websites out there...

The look is not something that has anything to do with using wordpress or not. You can design any front-end for it...

Not as the unique way, but wordpress is great for many cases.

the abuse of plugins is shit

When I did websites for clients my boss would not let me custom code simple plugins. Instead force me to use something already available. Usually something that beat simplicity beyond recognition. And if it was close to what he wanted but not quite he requested I modify the plugin to meet our needs. So not only did we have hack job plugins but we could no longer update them from the upstream. So glad I got out of web design and into web applications.

This is much more than just a WordPress issue.

the best part is when your project manger thinks there's a plugin for everything. NO unless I spend hours creating one myself.

WordPress is fine if used for simple blogs like it was designed for, but the database structure, lack of efficiency and insecurity just make it unsuitable for anything more.
