While in a meeting with our CEO, I make mention of the fact that we now have the opportunity of being able to "repay technical debt". Before being able to go on much further with the conversation, the "dev manager" turns to me...

"Dev Manager": You're going to have to explain 'technical debt'.

Me: ... 🤦🏻‍♂️

It sounds like he wanted you to explain what it means because you were in mixed company.

@Demolishun Nah... The CEO knew/knows exactly what is meant by "technical debt". That was the context of the whole meeting, without actually using the term... but the "Dev Manager" had the look of "that's the first time I've heard that word being used" on his face.

see, it's like the knowledge debt you are exhibiting right now, only regarding the technical side of the app. you neglected your basic education long time ago, and it's now causing problems, so the best thing to do would be to go and educate yourself even if it will seem that you're wasting time not doing anything productive, otherwise your ignorance will keep snowballing wrong decisions and hurting the company more and more over time.
