Which moron at Google decided that a transparent status bar is useful and that the user should not be able to change it?
Do they test only with unicolored apps?

I think you have burn in, I don't think any stock Android had a transparent bar, or at least the newest one doesn't on my Nexus

Each phone producer fuckstomizes the stock android in different ways for each model...

@iam13islucky @snafuAI The transparency is a choice of design of the developer of the app. It's not such by default.

Any app targeted to Api 21+ can have a transparent status bar.

@iam13islucky burn in is a screen fault. Not software. Would not show up on screenshots 🙂

@Dacexi ah shit, true. Anyway, it's not stock so you can't blame Google, that's third party

I don't know any situation, where transparency makes sense for the status bar. I want to see what's happening.
Especially for Google maps it's terrible, because i like to let it run when i'm travelling by car to see the traffic.

@ddephor cameras, maybe? Honestly, I prefer hiding it completely

Ah, OK. Not an Android developer, just a user. On my phone, at least, the bar is translucent, with a fairly dark hue, so not a problem.

However, I used to own an LG were the notification bar was transparent by default, so I assumed it's the same in this case.

@ddephor It's an aesthetic decision, it doesn't necessarily have to "make sense". Either it looks cool or it doesn't.

I have yet to see a case where it has been poorly used.
