    There must be some fundamental mode that allows these household appliances to work when the Internet is switched off. Otherwise we're pretty much doomed

    You don't need a "virus", it's enough that you that your router dies suddenly ;-) and you don't have another as "backup"

    @sam9669 I thought the internet connected broom, the roomba and the coffee maker we're the funniest. Wtf is with the trashcan though
