@jonas-w Well, Amen to that, competition is almost always good.

We would need a Windows and macOs replacement. Linux has never been user friendly.

@ars1 the alternative would probably still be Linux, but it will need some work.

I hope this will never happen

I hope all big tech companies will soon be led by visionaries who understand they have enough money to never ever have to work again and decide to dedicate their time to improve the world instead. They're mostly smart, otherwise they wouldn't be able to hustle the majority of the market into buying or "freely" using their product. So, I say, let them do what they think is beneficial for the whole population for 20-30 years before killing all of them and equalising the system to its lowest denominator again.

What should not happen is that one company can hold a monopoly / exclusive right to technology.

Including the buy and burn tactic - buying your concurrent and burning their work by firing everyone.
