Ransomware has the effect to destroying data and my will to live.

I come in to work yesterday to see everyone panicking. We got hit by WannaCry. The boss is with IT dealing with it and sends all of us home. No biggie, since all of my work data is backed up on an offsite server.

I come back into work to still see everyone in a frenzy. I think they are still overreacting to the attack, so I go to my corner in the office. I boot up to see the Ubuntu logo, which is a huge problem, not for me of course, but for everyone else who can barely work Windows. I barge in on my boss and ask him why the fuck is Ubuntu on the PC's.

He replies, "I looked it up, Linux is not affected by viruses".

What the fuck is wrong with people? After I tell him to revert back to Windows because he's being a fucking retard, he goes ahead to send all of us home.

I can only hope he doesn't install Zorin or Elementary because I will quit.

@Jop- the people I work with can barely understand technology, and they work with microsoft products so its just easier for them to use Windows

@Jop- Windows 7 to 8 mad me so mad.

We never went to Windows 8, just skipped to Windows 10 when it matured. All it took to was a day to relearn stuff.

@Jop- About half a work day, and only about a couple of them actually knew some things about Linux. Besides, I would be fine with Linux if only the people there actually had patience. The learning curve is too steep for them.

@master98ofu Idk I installed elementary for my parents and sister and (yeah they're a-technical to the fucking point) they found it easier to work with than windows.... but hey, if windows is a requirement in your environment or people just want to work with it, I'm not the one to judge anyways ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

We have a free policy about who uses which OS, everyone is fine using what ever they like, all devs work on linux one way or another, either through VM on windows or on the metal and silicone (like me ๐Ÿ˜Ž the few extra features compared to the huge performance waste makes it a bad choice in my case) and then again everyone is free to use software which they're comfortabele with. We got a lot of Windows users but thanks to me and a sysadmin we do IT departement tasks because we know a bit of everything we didn't get hit by Wannacry, we thought it was a good choice to let every body upgrade to Windows 10 who used Windows as OS and thanks to the stupid auto update (which makes IT departement jobs easier) no body could be affected by it. Can't speak for some competitors from what i've read somewhere๐Ÿ–•๐Ÿ˜‚

One of the things I don't get about windows, why can't updates be installed like on Linux, most things in Linux are hot swappable meaning only needs restarting the process and not reboot
