DEVil666830122dI agree and honestly I don’t even get why so many new notes apps are invented nowadays. We already have plenty, it would be better to see more optimisation (leaving Electron and other heavy shit would be an awesome first step) on existing ones.
daniel-wu417122dElectron is shit and should be dumped and buried forever. It used chromium under the hood and each install of electron app means you have installed a separate chrome browser and a separate nodejs into your system.
WhatsApp web alone took 3 GBs of my SSD space. I bet it will only takes < 300 MB if they rewrite it using C# and compile it into real native app.
dontbeevil4733121dBut but web apps are the best /s damn I hate this slow and heavy web tech based apps (lazy) trend
dontbeevil4733121d@daniel-wu I started to use whatsapp only few months ago, when they finally published whatsapp beta, that's a native fast and light uwp, you have to try it!
10basetom5120dWebapps sucks, but at the same time many of the lean apps we love are showing their age (like KeyNote). I would love to see a lightweight notes app with the functionality of Obsidian written in Rust.
dontbeevil4733120dI don't know about keynote features, but I'm happy with onenote (uwp), fast, light, touch&pen friendly, native cross platform
10basetom5117d@dontbeevil I'm still on Office 2003. I'd have to check my install CD-ROMs to see whether OneNote was around then lol.
dontbeevil4733117d@10basetom it's free, you can download from the store or from the website
daniel-wu417117d@dontbeevil I have heard about it's UWP version. But I haven't tried it until now. It's hard to trust it since it's still "Beta" even though it has been released since 2021.
dontbeevil4733116d@daniel-wu there is a bit of confusion here
there are 2 versions of one note:
- UWP, stable and you can download from the store (now called "onenote for windows 10", but I just noticed you cannot download it anymore)
- Win32, stable and you can install with office or from here https://www.onenote.com/Download (check other download option)
- WinUI, is the new one that should replace both, and I think it's still in preview, and you can download from the store or with office (switching to insider branch)
Seriously, what is up with all these new BLOATED webapps? Almost 250MB eaten up before I write a single note -- really?? Compare that with KeyNote (written in Delphi) loaded with thousands of notes.
