I hate it when “We’ll, we’re agile” becomes more of an excuse than a plan.

    Yeah, it's weird how huge of an impact these development practice terms have. And how few there are.

    Waterfall became a term people run from like the plague.

    Agile became so beloved that it can be used to excuse anything.

    And the only specific agile terms people know are scrum and kanban so managers always attempt to shoehorn teams into those - or if it's not possible "just call it agile"

    One of my friends was a CIS major and did her entire research paper on it for a class. It was birthed from a failed project that was over time and over budget and its successes are touted with zero evidence. Software development snake oil.
