I agree, but I just can't see any production job that isn't that way.
Unless there is nothing to do, you always are in some kind of rush to maintain, finalize, or develop a product. -
The only way to reduce that is with big corporations where there is a massive inertia at all levels, or with an over staffed company where everyone share little work

Hazarth95012y@hippolyte yeah, but then you get random unexpected layoffs. So you trade more time for job security.

It shouldn't, but also, that's how we made out society and now it's fucked too deep to fix in any meaningful way. The only thing we can try to do is start our own companies, do better, and hope it somehow translates into better company earnings, so it can become a trend and starts being implemented in more places.
I guess one example is making it acceptable for devs to spend some time in "fun rooms" or to sleep on the job, which was a trend started several decades ago, shows actual improvement and is still only adapted in very few companies... but it's not 0 anymore, so that's something
Just my opinion, but a software dev job shouldn't be stressful for 9+ months of a year.
I understand sometimes the company wants to launch a product on a deadline, so people have to do extra time at work.
Or an urgent bug fix is needed on the system which requires someone to put in overtime.
But a stressful job for all 12 months of a year is just not worth it, whatever the salary may be.
What do you think?
