Question for all Dev..
I recently apply for a front-end dev and I got rejected. I than apply to many other jobs offer for the same position and got rejected. This is really putting me down and disencouraging me to continue (but I know it shouldn't) I just want to know if anyone else went through or is going through the same thing and how did you find the strength to stay positive. How many times did you get rejected before actually finding a job? And how many times people have told you no? This goes for freelancer and business.

Oh man, while I was graduating (with CS degree) I got rejected 10+ times. It was pretty devastating. I stuck with it though and landed a fantastic job. I'm actually happy now that I was turned down so many times

Have you built a portfolio page?

@nickpapoutsis not yet I was planning on doing it on weebly, but I don't know if it's better to use a subdomain or pay for a domain .

@TheDevil when I graduated I applied for hundreds of jobs and got rejected from all of them expect one that included a group interview which was annoying felt like some sort of reality TV contest, in the end I got rejected for a graduate role for not having enough leadership skills >.>, Another job rejected me for not having the right major (software development major not computer science, though at the University I went to I was only 2 papers away from getting a double major :/)

I'm still trying to get a job, I ended up after six months getting a job from a friend, but resigned recently because this company isn't development oriented and expect way too much from a solo dev.

I guess my want for a good job is my will to keep going, I do get annoyed being rejected without reason, but I guess just gotta try and keep going at it, my main goal is to eventually start my own game development company so what ever job I get will basically be funding that dream of mine.

    Just gotta keep trying

Oh right I say rejected but what I mean is never got a reply from them at all :/ recently applied for jobs and got the same automated email response of sorry we found a better person for the job but impressed with your CV (doubt it, they're a recruitment company)

@TheDevil DO NOT USE NOOB PLATFORMS!

You are looking for a web dev job.
If you cannot create a page to show the world who you are then don't bother.

@nickpapoutsis yeah that's definitely true, showing that you can make a website would definitely help, same with game development, and I guess the same with anything that can have some sort of portfolio

@nickpapoutsis I can create a webpage with html5 css3 JavaScript / jQuery in less than an hour, but I don't have a job to actually pay for a domain and some subdomain don't allow you to put custom code.

@TheDevil There are many places that allow hosting of such pages for free, do a Google search.

As for domains, again you can get one for free.

@theScientist I got turned down for several jobs that I was just kind of meh about. The one I finally got ended up being one 9f the best possible experiences. Great people, small company, lots of room to grow and learn. Of course that all changed after a few years but that's another story

Did you ask why you were rejected? Next time offer them to do some test so you can show what you can do.

@CodeMasterAlex lack of experience, but that's not a bad idea. Thanks I will try to do that for my next interview.
