We've definitely thought about this and it's a possibility. We'd probably start out by giving everyone the ability to turn them off, and members of devRant++ would definitely always receive an ad-free experience.

@dfox I actually think a jobs section (Not on the feed) would be great, I would use it. What better place to advertise than where devs go when they are unhappy with their current employment.

The best option would be just an extra tab, where employers can buy a spot. Should have location and topic filters, and when you apply you drop in contact info (they don't get your username).

In my head, the ads would look like proper rants, which accepts comments from users, and the recruiters can't do anything other than watch when we have a go at them.

And again, I ranted this as a joke...
